Life Sidney Bechet was the son of a music-loving shoemaker. He taught himself with 6 years on the instrument of his older brother Leonard (late dentist and Posaunist) to clarinet plays. It took also in the exchange against tobacco lessons with the Klarinettisten Lorenzo Tio and George Bacquet („the master fathers “of the new Orleans Klarinettenspiels), which used however after own words relatively little to it (it could never read notes correctly). Instead it learns the most diverse instruments, for example with its model, by listening and Zugucken which cornetists Freddie Keppard, with which it plays 1911. it plays 1913 with Louis Armstrong (which it hires for an advertisement commitment), 1914 with Clarence Williams on a route by department stores in Texas, 1916 with King of olive and 1917 in Chicago, among other things with Keppard. 1919 is already it in New York and makes Europe a route with the Southern Syncopated Orchestra of wants Marion Cook. Sidney Bechet was one the technically most experienced musician of the era of the new Orleans jazz. When Klarinettist and saxophonist he became model for many other jazz musicians, for example Johnny Hodges (around 1924 engaged and informed the Bechet), Buster Bailey and Jimmie Noone (the Bechet in new Orleans as Teen informed, although was these 2 years older).
