New Orleans jazz developed at the beginning of the 20th century in New Orleans (Louisiana) and spread in the 1910s by New Orleans of tape to Chicago, Illinois and New York. Dixieland is often seen as the first real jazz style. It was also the first music which was cited under the concept Jazz. Before 1917 the word Jazz was often spelt "Jass". A known later representative of New Orleans jazz was Louis Armstrong who worked, however, all together in many different areas of the jazz. The historical predecessor were the music of the Marching of tape, hymns, Negro Spirituals and Blues, but also the Ragtime. In the 1950s New Orleans experienced jazz a Renaissance (New Orleans revival). Style signs: Group Improvisation, Breaks, trumpet main voice (becomes from other voices dribbles round). |
