 Chicago its own style direction represents jazz within the development of the jazz. It originally developed from one by that new Orleans jazz coined/shaped imitation of the “black jazz” by white musicians. Chicago jazz should not be confounded with the Dixieland.
Development
At the beginning of the 1920er years many black musicians from New Orleans had come to Chicago (among other things King of olive, Jelly Roll Morton and Louis Armstrong). A principal reason for it was that the nightclub district at that time in new Orleans, Storyville, by decree was closed, which released a large Treck of musicians in particular to Chicago. Some pupils and student from the white middle class, who heard that in the Southside Chicago new Orleans jazz, began, to copy their black models whereby they developed their own style.

Style characteristics
Chicago jazz is coined/shaped of a stronger importance of the individual Solos (contrary to the collective improvisation in the early new Orleans jazz), the increasing meaning of the saxophone, and in particular from a certain emotional restraint with the play. Occupation
