Latin jazz is a variant of the Modern jazz which distinguishes itself above all by the takeover of rhythms and partially also compositions from the repertoire of the Latin-American music. First it concerned mainly a connection of the jazz with elements of different styles from the Caribbean and of the music of Cuba a key position was put away. In the broader sense the concept also encloses influence from the Brazilian Popularmusik with. The pioneer of the Latin jazz was Dizzy Gillespie.
